FAQS

Questions about what it’s like to work together?

Here are some of the most common questions I get about therapy.

If you don’t see your question answered below,

contact me.

  • I’m not currently in-network with any insurance companies. Some clients have out-of-network benefits for partial reimbursement, and I’m glad to help you navigate that process, from checking your coverage to submitting claims. I’ll provide a monthly “superbill” (a detailed receipt) you can submit to your insurer.

Paying out of pocket also gives us more freedom to decide together what pace and depth of therapy feels right for you.

    • Individual sessions: $175

    • Couples and family sessions: $200

    • I also offer sliding scale spots to make therapy more accessible. Please reach out if this may be helpful for you.

  • You can schedule a free 15-minute consultation call or book a session directly through my online portal, whichever feels easier.

  • I offer sessions on weekdays, weekday evenings, and Saturdays. Therapy is available both online and in-person at my Montclair office.

You can check the client portal for available days and times. Feel free to contact me at 973.283.5986 or here if you do not see openings, as I may have flexibility.

  • I ask for 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. This helps keep the schedule open for others who may need a spot.

If a session is canceled with less than 24 hours’ notice, the full fee applies. If we can find another time within the same week, I’m glad to waive the fee.

  • That’s more common than people think. Sometimes it’s about fit, and other times it’s about timing, where you are in your readiness to feel open.

My approach is active and collaborative; we’ll check in about what feels helpful and what doesn’t.

  • This is a common question. To protect confidentiality and maintain a balanced alliance, I don’t see someone as both their individual therapist and their couples or family therapist. These are different kinds of relationships, and combining them can create a conflict of interest.

If individual therapy would be helpful alongside couples or family work, I can provide referrals to trusted therapists for that support.

  • The name What We Hold was inspired by Maira Kalman’s book Women Holding Things.
